Our Team

No matter how good the facilities, a nursery can only be as good as the team behind it. All our staff are friendly, approachable, caring and strive to provide the best possible care for our children.

Our committed team are highly motivated, caring and experienced. All of our Early Years Educators are qualified to a minimum Level 3 (or above) in a relevant early years and childcare qualification. Our apprentices are all working toward a level 3 qualification.

Continuous professional development is embedded in our ethos enabling staff to learn and develop throughout their employment at Charnwood Nursery & Pre-school Group.

Meet the Leadership Team

CMI Level 5 Diploma in Early Years Leadership & Management.

I am the proud owner of the Charnwood Nursery & Pre-school Group. The company has grown from a 26-place pre-school bought in 2001 to the multi-sight group that it is today. I have always wanted to own my own nursery so this job really is a dream come true for me.

I care deeply about the care and education we offer the children and feel privileged that parents choose and trust in us to provide the play and learning experiences that are so crucial to children’s early years.

Continuous professional development is extremely important to me and I (along with several members of members of the management team) am currently working towards a Masters Degree in Integrated Working with Families and their Children. This is proving to be hugely influential on our practice and I am excited about the direction these studies are taking our company in.

I am the mother of 4 children all of whom attend or have attended my nursery and I couldn’t wish for them to have had a better nursery and pre-school education.

Following a 24 year career with the Royal Mail, I accepted voluntary redundancy and leapt at the opportunity to work alongside my wife in the nurseries.

I am currently studying towards a level 3 qualification in Forest School. I thoroughly enjoy exploring the woods with the children, watching their confidence and curiosity grow. This is definitely my favourite part of the job!

When I am not in the woods, I am fixing, mending, repairing or balancing the books!

CMI level 5 Diploma in Early Years Leadership & Management

I was a part of the team that set up and opened Charnwood Pre-school in 1999, before Beverley took over the business in 2001. I have always wanted to work in the early years and after leaving school I completed a full time BTEC National diploma in caring services as well as working a teatime shift in local day nursery to gain some practical experience. Alongside this I was also a nanny for three children during the weekends, this was a role that I enjoyed for over ten years.

I strive to provide opportunities for children to learn through play, supporting them to develop and reach their full potential in a safe and secure environment. Working in partnership with and providing support to parents is also of huge importance to me.

I have gained a vast amount of experience and knowledge throughout my career which has allowed me to develop and grow into my current role. This has included becoming a mum of two children myself which has certainly enabled me to experience early years from the viewpoint of a parent and influenced me as a childcare professional.

Throughout my career I have continued to train and am proud to have achieved a level 4 qualification in childcare and a level 5 diploma in Leadership and Management in the early years. Currently, (alongside some of my colleague’s) I am working towards a Master’s Degree in Integrated Working with Families and their Children which together with the team is inspiring us to develop our practice at the Charnwood Nursery & Pre-school Group.

Masters Degree in Integrated Working with Children and their Families in the Early Years, Bachelor of Art Honours in Early Childhood Studies & Early Years Teacher

I have worked within early years since I completed my NNEB in 1998.  Most of my career has been spent working at Charnwood Nursery & Pre-School Group.  I am proud to be part of such a driven and inspiring team.

Throughout my early years career I have gone on to expand my academic journey, completing a Foundation Degree, a Bachelor’s degree, Early Years Professional Status and most recently a Master’s Degree in Integrated Working with Children and their Families.  Through completing the Master’s Degree, I have embraced the process of research led practice, which has in turn enabled me develop my role within the Charnwood Nursery & Pre-School Group.  Researching and learning from pioneering early years theorists has enabled me to, alongside the practitioners within the setting, implement new initiatives that deepen the understanding of how children learn and how to facilitate their learning and development.

My role as the groups Training and Development Manager offers me a unique position to enhance the settings curriculum and experiences, that enable the children within the settings to flourish within our learning spaces.

I also have the pleasure of working alongside our outstanding team, to either provide continuous CPD myself, or source inspiring early years mentors to enhance practice within the settings.

I have a passion for facilitating parenting groups.  Supporting parents in their journey through parenthood is an honour and is incredibly beneficial to the children who attend our settings.

Working within Early Years is my passion.  I am in an extraordinary and humbling position to observe and facilitate the early learning and development of so many children within our settings.

Level 3 Playwork. Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Business and Administration.

I am the finance office for the Charnwood Nursery & Pre-School Group. My role is to produce the monthly invoices and support parents with any queries in relation to fees. I also process the claims for the free education entitlement for 2,3 & 4 years old’s.

After the birth of my second child, I left the travel industry and joined the company in 2005, retraining as a Playworker and progressing to Manager of one of the company’s 5 Star Clubs. I am particularly proud of this achievement as, at the time, I had two children under the age of 5.

After the arrival of my third child, I adopted an office based role, providing administrative completion support to the management team. As the company evolved, so did my role, leading to the completion of an NVQ in Business and Administration and my current position as finance officer.

All my children have attended Charnwood Nursery & Pre-School. I believe that they received the best start to their education and I am extremely proud of the continued progress they are making in their education and careers.

Foundation Degree in Children’s Learning & Development

I have worked for Charnwood Nursery & Pre-school Group since 2016. I have been a qualified Special Education Needs Co-ordinator (SENco) for 15 years and have trained as a Perinatal Mental Health support worker. I deliver The Solihull Parenting groups alongside the senior management team. Working with colleagues who are also passionate about supporting children and families to be the best they can is why I am proud to be part of the company I work for. I recently completed the Foundation Degree in Children's Learning and Development passing with a distinction. Being a voice for the children and families whom I support is both rewarding and a privilege.
